macOS purple menu bar item

When Bartender reads your menu bar, macOS can show a purple screen capture indicator in your menu bar. This is a macOS feature and is not caused by Bartender.

This cannot be hidden or disabled. It is a macOS security feature to let you know that an app is reading part of the screen.

How to reduce how often this shows

• Avoid using the Bartender Bar — use scrolling/swiping in the menu bar instead
• Use keyboard shortcuts instead of mouse interaction

Privacy

Bartender only reads the menu bar area. Bartender does not record your screen, desktop, or any other part of your display. The menu bar area is read to display the correct icons for your menu bar items.
